How big does a natural swimming pond need to be?
To swim and keep the water clean without chemicals, plan for roughly 50 to 70 m2 in total. About half is a shallow regeneration zone with plants, the other half a swimming zone around 2 m deep. Smaller ponds are possible with added filtration.
Do I need a building permit in the Czech Republic?
A pond or pool up to 40 m2 next to a family house, at least 2 m from the boundary, counts as a minor structure and needs neither permit nor notification. Larger ponds usually need a notification to the building office, and ponds over 300 m3 or with an inflow and outflow are also reviewed by the water authority. We handle the paperwork.
How is the water kept clean without chlorine?
Wetland plants and micro-organisms in a gravel bed remove nutrients from the water, so algae have nothing to grow on. A pump circulates water between the zones and a skimmer collects leaves from the surface. No chlorine or other chemicals are used.
How long does construction take?
A swimming pond of around 60 m2 takes two to three weeks of work, an ornamental pond by the terrace three to five days. Plants need one season to establish; the pond works at full strength from the second summer.
Do you work with English-speaking clients?
Yes. Site visit, proposal, budget and communication during construction can all be in English. Contracts are provided in Czech with an English translation.
